I live in Minneapolis, MN with my wife, Bri and our two dogs, Bullet and Scout.
As a multilingual individual, I am proficient in five languages: English, Kannada, Hindi, German, and Tamil. Over the past four years, I have
adhered to a vegan lifestyle. I have a strong affinity for outdoor activities and often spend my weekends exploring new trails or leisurely
strolling around various lakes. My preferred setting for productivity is within coffee shops, with
Caffeto on 22nd and Lyndale being my favorite due to its strong sense of community.
I have excelled as a software developer for the past 7 years. Before that, I dabbled with HTML, CSS, and JS for various school projects in the
early 2000s. I maintain a strong passion for technology and enjoy experimenting with IoT electronics in my free time. Since being introduced
to Kotlin at work, I have thrived while working with it. Currently, I am leveraging Kotlin to develop a meal planning app for my wife and
myself using the Kotlin tech stack (KTOR, KMM).
I have recently been promoted to the role of Software Development Manager, where I lead a team that builds extensive supply chain applications
for use in our Chewy Fulfillment Centers. I work with a team of highly talented and diverse individuals who are passionate about the problems
we are solving. As a first-time people leader, I have had to learn and unlearn many things. Firstly, I have reduced the amount of code I write
and shifted my focus towards solving business problems and guiding our team in doing so. Additionally, I constantly collaborate with our
Fulfillment Operation team members to collect their feedback and feature requests on the applications we own. Finally, I have also been
managing the team's sprint ceremonies and writing well-defined tickets for developers to work on.
I have been excelling as a Software Engineer at Chewy for the past 2 years. My pivotal role involves collaborating with the Supply Chain team
to develop internal applications that significantly enhance the productivity of team members in the fulfillment centers. Before joining Chewy,
I held the position of Software Developer at HomeSpotter, which was recently acquired by Lone Wolf
Technologies. Throughout my robust career, I have successfully led diverse projects, ranging from front-end development using React/CSS/HTML
to building ETL pipelines with Kotlin and seamlessly integrating 3rd party APIs. What I find most invigorating about working here is the
people. As a valuable member of a small, dynamic team, I confidently take ownership of solutions and contribute significantly to the direction
of our products.
I proudly earned my Master's degree in Software Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Throughout my studies, I honed my
skills in building and architecting complex software systems. Additionally, I mastered the art of writing and publishing scientific papers. My
extensive research delved into big data platforms such as Elastic Search and Hadoop, culminating in a collaborative project analyzing the
emotional content of books from the Gutenberg Project. Furthermore, I dived into IoT development, successfully working with Raspberry PIs and
Particle Photons. A notable accomplishment was co-creating an air quality sensor, leveraging the knowledge gained during the course.
Witnessing the transformation of an idea into a fully functioning product was truly fulfilling.
I constantly seek out new challenges, projects, and collaborations. As a growth engineer, I excel at crafting rapid, iterative solutions to intricate problems. In the upcoming months, I am determined to sharpen my skills in the following areas:
Mastering messaging frameworks like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Strengthening my expertise in Multiplatform architectures.
Immersing myself in non-relational database solutions such as MongoDB.
